Compassion Packet Goodies – 2

Compassion Packet Goodies – 2

It has been a while that I have blogged about our sponsorship in India. Summer has come and gone. School is in full swing. We slacked, we picked up, we moved on and moving on..

This post has been long due but I didn’t feel like writing about it.Yesterday a friend said something which encouraged me to type up this post today.

So what has been in our compassion packet lately beside the handwritten letter?

Sticker: My kids love stickers so I know Apeksha would do.

Bible story printouts

Every Sunday our children have an opportunity to hear the word of God in Sunday school and from pulpit. I know Bible stories are shared with Apeksha at the compassion center but I doubt that she has an opportunity to hear the word of God and His story like our children do. So I thought, we will share the Bible story with her. I understand that our letter will take months to reach to her but we must start it anyway.

So we started where everything starts. Book of Genesis .

Days of creation(Genesis 1)

“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. “Genesis 1:1

My children made the days of creation sheet for her. I included little matching exercise for her to do as well.

“God saw all that he had made, and it was very good. And there was evening, and there was morning—the sixth day ” ~ Genesis 1:31

Then we tried to tell the story of goodness to sinfulness(Genesis 2 – 3)  using the printouts, available all over the internet. I included the same sheets for her to color as well.

Now the serpent was more crafty than any of the wild animals the Lord God had made. He said to the woman, “Did God really say, ‘You must not eat from any tree in the garden’?” ~ Genesis 3:1

““Cursed is the ground because of you; through painful toil you will eat food from it all the days of your life.” Genesis 2: 17

We will continue to move on with stories in our subsequent letters.

My country – Your country

Idea is to tell Apeksha little bit about our country, USA ,comparing in the same terms as her country ,India (mine too)

We started with flags

India – National Anthem : “Jana Gana Mana Adhinayak Jai Ho Bharat Bhagyavidhta..” : USA : “Star Spangled Banner “

We compared the time and common greetings.

“I say Hello and you say Namaste” ” I am asleep when you are awake “

We will continue to build on to it.

As you see the items listed above, please remember that it took me couple of days to get it together. We had to fight little battles to get this going with my kids’ .Once they started, they were very spirited to finish it up. Notice the ‘Garden of Eden’ where very blue sky is full of many black big birds as pictured by 5 yr old boy.
